Fencing in Rolleston & Selwyn
New builds, post replacement, palings, gates and repairs — fences built to handle Canterbury.
A good fence does three jobs: it keeps the kids and the dog in, the wind and the wandering eyes out, and the whole section looking cared for. Across Rolleston and the Selwyn District we build new timber fences and bring tired ones back to life — replacing rotted posts, re-hanging sagging gates, swapping out split palings and straightening runs that lean a little more every nor'wester.
Fences fail from the ground up in Canterbury: posts rot at soil level, concrete footings crack, and wind loading works every fixing loose over time. So we do the unglamorous parts properly — posts set deep and plumb, rails level, palings evenly gapped, and hardware chosen for outdoor life. Whether it is a full boundary run, a picket frontage with street appeal, or just the ten metres the last storm took down, you get the same care: string lines, levels and fixings that hold.
New builds and honest repairs
Not every fence needs replacing, and we will tell you straight when a repair is the smarter spend. A run with sound rails but two rotted posts gets two new posts, not a whole new fence. A gate that drags usually needs its hinges reset and its latch re-seated, not a rebuild. And when a new build is the right answer, we talk you through timber choices, heights and gate positions before anything is ordered — so the finished fence suits the section, the neighbours and the budget.
Because fencing is weather-exposed work, timing and sequencing matter: posts need setting right, concrete needs its time, and finishing should never trap moisture. Call or text 027 592 9582 with a photo of the fence and a rough length if you can — it helps us arrive with the right materials and give you a fair, honest price on the spot.

Frequently asked questions
Repair or replace? We will assess it honestly on site — sound rails and isolated rot usually mean repair; widespread rot means a rebuild is better value.
Do you do gates? Yes — new gates, re-hanging, hinges, latches and automated-gate-ready posts.
What about the boundary with my neighbour? Boundary fences are usually shared costs — have a chat with your neighbour first, then call us for the work.
Leaning Fence? Storm Damage?
Send us a photo and a rough length — we will take it from there.
